Mascoutin Valley State Trail Revitalized - Parking Added in Berlin

The 12-mile stretch of the Mascoutin Valley State Trail, which winds through Green Lake, Winnebago and Fond du Lac counties, now has an additional parking area. This lot is conveniently located in the city of Berlin near the corner of South Street and Highway 49. Look for the sign marking the lot as you head south out of Berlin on Highway 49. This lot starts the northern end of the trail in Green Lake County. Additional parking is available on Quarry Road across the road from the Waste Management Plant, on the street on County F and on Locust Street on the Ripon end of the trail.
Green Lake County's section of the trail has recently been revitalized with a limestone base, making it more user-friendly for hikers, bikers and joggers and includes a reroute with a boardwalk. Users in Fond du Lac and Winnebago counties also have the option of horseback riding on the trail.
The Mascoutin Valley State Trail, named for the Mascoutin Indian Tribe in the area, offers a quiet, natural setting with wildlife viewing, opportunities for photographers, scenic country beauty, and the promise of great food at both ends in Berlin and Ripon.
