When it's time to escape for playtime fun, the five communities of Green Lake Country offer four seasons of outdoor recreation.
- If it's summer skiing you're seeking, you'll find the water ski and jet ski variety, and our lakes, rivers and streams offer unparalleled opportunities for boating, fishing, sailing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming.
- Hikers and bikers will appreciate the many trails of various difficulties and terrains. Printed maps are available to plan your trip.
- Golfers can take to the links on one of our many premier golf courses. They offer river and lake views, Scottish-style links, park-like settings and abundant wildlife, including whitetail deer and even peacocks.
- Hunters will also appreciate the plentiful wildlife that populates the area. When autumn arrives, deer, turkey, bear, pheasants and waterfowl make this a sportsman's paradise and draw hunters from all around to private and public land, making hunting accessible to all.
- For the truly adventurous, see the fall colors from the air in a hot air balloon. This not-to-be-forgotten experience is available year round, but is especially spectacular when Mother Nature sets the hills ablaze in the reds, oranges and golds of autumn.
- As fall gives way to flakes, strap on your snow shoes or cross country skis and take advantage of some of the many groomed trails. Many communities offer ice skating rinks, or test your skills and ankles on the frozen lakes. Of course, you'll have to share them with the fishermen as they set up camp in the shanty villages on the "hard water" to reel in their catches. Perch, bluegill, walleye, northern, lake trout and cisco are some of the delicacies that may be on your plate after a day on the frozen lakes.
- And if the big one got away, stop off for the Friday fish fry after snowmobiling over 150 miles of trails maintained by local snowmobile clubs. Trails wind through woods, meadows, marsh and fields.
- Don't forget the kids! They'll be begging to go when you mention plans to visit the sledding hill at Zobel Park. And when winter turns to spring, they can play Frisbee golf there and at many of the other beautiful parks.
- The aquatic center, with its 170 foot long water slide and zero depth entry, is sure to be a hit as well. Local campgrounds also cater to families with pools and activities for the youngsters.
